MOUNT MERU

Located in the heart of Arusha National Park is Tanzania’s second highest mountain (4566m, 12,000 ft), Mount Meru. This volcanic mountain is just 50 miles west from Kilimanjaro and towers high above Arusha town. On the lower slopes you can see buffaloes, giraffes, zebras and monkeys. Climbing Mount Meru is often considered as warm-up for big brother Kilimanjaro. However, don’t underestimate this trekking since it is steeper and technically more difficult. Therefore it is quite a challenge, but definitely worth it. The surroundings are awe-inspiring with a stunning display of wildlife. Moreover, at the summit the panoramic views of Kilimanjaro and the Rift Valley are spectacular as well as the sunrise over Kilimanjaro
